No One Volunteers for This.
Nobody wakes up and says, “Sign me up for breast cancer.”
There is no application. No preparation. No consent.
One phone call. One pathology report. One sentence, “You have breast cancer”, and suddenly you have been drafted into a battle you never asked to fight. Then comes the language you never wanted to learn. Biopsies. Staging. Chemotherapy. Surgery. Radiation. Immunotherapy. Ports. Drains. Scans. Labs. Medications. Side effects. Hair loss. Scars. Body changes.
THE GAP
The Treatment Ended. The Need for Support Didn't.
We are deeply grateful for the pink ribbons. For breast cancer awareness campaigns. For the people encouraging mammograms and early detection. For researchers asking hard questions and developing better treatments. For physicians, nurses, navigators and organizations working tirelessly to save lives. We need all of it.
VETERANHOOD
Survivor Tells Us You Lived. Veteranhood Honors What You Lived Through.
There is language missing from the breast cancer journey.
We use the word survivor, and we honor it.
But for some of us, it does not completely describe the experience. You didn’t simply survive something.
You went through something. A battle changed your body, your mind, your relationships, your perspective, and sometimes the entire direction of your life.

Pink Battalion is building toward a different model of survivorship, one that sees the whole person, not simply whether cancer can currently be found on a scan.
Because life after breast cancer may require rebuilding in places nobody warned you about.

There will never be another first.
On November 7, 2026, Pink Battalion will gather for the Inaugural Pink Battalion Vet Gala, an evening designed to celebrate, honor, remember and mobilize. Yes, it will be beautiful. Yes, we are going to celebrate. Yes, we want you dressed, present and ready for an unforgettable evening.
But make no mistake: This night has a mission.
The Pink Battalion Vet Gala exists to raise funds and awareness for the often-overlooked needs that remain after active breast cancer treatment ends.
We will honor our Living Veterans. We will recognize the Collateral Veterans who stood beside them.
We will remember our Legacy Veterans whose seats may be empty, but whose stories are still very much present. And together, we will help fund Life Beyond the Bell.
But there is another story inside this night.
The Inaugural Gala marks an extraordinary personal milestone for Pink Battalion founder Dr. Chevelta A. Smith, physician, U.S. Navy veteran and Breast Cancer Veteran. As she reaches five years from her own breast cancer diagnosis, she could have chosen to make the milestone entirely about herself.
She chose something different. She chose to celebrate others. She chose to turn a deeply personal milestone into an opportunity to honor every person who has fought this battle, every family that fought beside them and every life whose legacy remains.

After experiencing breast cancer firsthand, Dr. Chevelta Smith recognized something important: support shouldn’t disappear when treatment ends.
Pink Battalion grew from that understanding—a desire to redefine what life beyond breast cancer can look like and create meaningful resources, conversations, connections, and experiences for women navigating their own beyond.
Meet The Founder
Dr. Chevelta A. Smith
Hi there! My name is Dr. Chevelta A. Smith. Yes! My parents named me after a Chevrolet Chevelle car. I am a board-certified OB/Gyn, COVID-19 frontline worker, Navy veteran, pastor, marriage strategist, educator, and published author. I’ve also been told by many, that I am a dynamic and powerful speaker—both medically and spiritually. I am humbled by such remarks. Through God’s grace, I have had the wonderful opportunity to touch the lives of many people both nationally and internationally through the broadcast ministries of Resurrection Today, TBN, Streaming Faith, and my former radio show, Straight Talk with Dr. Chevelta, featured on Gospel Impact Radio (2013-2014).
I was born in Washington, DC but moved a lot in my early years due to my dad being in the military. We settled in the DMV area when I was in 4th grade. I had a great life, however, like many, I too experienced some unfortunate events in my life that would change me and the way I viewed myself. For years to come, I would silently struggle with self-esteem, insecurity, and the fear of failure. Until one day, God lovingly opened my eyes to the realization that I am the product of my name. You see, Chevelle is a French word which means, “bold and beautiful.” That day, I promised myself that I would be a reflection of both in this world
Today, I stand as a woman who has completely healed from my past. And in that healing, I have accepted that I am valuable and more importantly that, “my voice matters.” In recognizing my value, I now desire more, access more, and accomplish more in my life. My mission is to help my fellow women in this world to recognize and embrace their value so that they may do the same. I love weight lifting and the beach! Although initially unintentional, my bright red curly hair has become my trademark and seems to attract the attention of individuals everywhere. I enjoy laughing and I love being down to earth. Honestly, I am a comedian on the down low—LOL! My heart’s desire is to continue to educate, mentor, and motivate individuals both in the medical and spiritual arena. I aspire to become a TV host and to continue to build a platform to educate individuals on the importance of medical and spiritual health and wholeness.
